Historic Buildings
 In the 1880s there was a brick foundry in
Wolseley. As a result many homes and public buildings are built with solid brick
construction. Many of these stunning heritage buildings have been restored to their
original splendor and most are available for
public viewing.

photo. A leisurely walk along the beautiful tree lined streets reveal historic treasures
such as "The Court House", built when Wolseley
was part of the Assiniboia District, in
the North West Territory. The famous trial of Racette took place beneath the cupola of
this remarkable brick structure. The center piece of your historic tour is the Wolseley
Town Hall/Opera House. It is one of Saskatchewan's last
remaining turn of the century designed multi-purpose public buildings. The original Town
Hall Plans provided room for council chambers, the Mechanics Institute (the library), a
fire hall, a jail cell and above all, an Opera House!
